By Tim Garnhart Jan 29, 2025 | 7:38 PM

Tom Demmer, Director of the Lee County Industrial and Development Association said the county is working to bring a distribution center to the county near Rochelle.  This part of Ogle County is a major hub for distribution.  However, part of Lee County reachs very close to the city.

To make this area attractive is the counties efforts to improve the rail system around the area.  Demmer said the State DCEO is writing a $3 million grant for the Rochelle area.  Demmer said if Lee County gets the grant it would not need any county money.

Demmer stated that the rail may be ending in Ogle County, however it swings south with a major portion going into Lee County.  The County is in talks to bring a distribution center outside of Rochelle in Lee County.
