Dixon Park Board Decides to do Nothing Concerning Ducks and Geese in Page Park…At the Moment

If you drive through Page Park in Dixon, the usual thing is the need to slow down and watch out for the hundreds of ducks and geese that call the park riverfront home.

The geese and ducks do something else in the park and that is the waste they leave behind.

The Dixon Park District has wanted to do something to deal with the geese and the waste they leave behind.  One of the hopes is when the construction in Page Park begins this year, the birds will move to someplace else. During the last Park Board meeting, the members decided to not do anything now.

Executive Director Duane Long said the board would like to deal with the geese to make the park a clean place.  However, he said they are realistic that there may not be much they can do.  Any plan to deal with the birds is an “if” and Not “when” at this point.
