At Sauk Valley Community College, in the gymnasium, hundreds of people cheered and wave as well as took pictures. Coming into the gymnasium were also people with broad smiles wearing red robes.
It was the time for the graduation of the class of 2025. Vice President of the College, Dr. Jon Mandrel said this is the greatest thing they do all year.
A graduate of 1971, John Burge was presented with the Honorary Degree. He said he was highly honored and please to be given the degree.
Burge said the school has changed a great deal from the days when he attended. He said the skill training such as nursing, the truck school and agriculture to name a few has greatly enhanced the college.
Earlier in the day, the college held the pinning ceremony for the nursing graduates.
