A large group of men in their 70’s and 80’s gathered Saturday and swapped stories. The thing they all had in common were they were Vietnam Veterans.
Some talked about their time in the service. Some also talked about how unwelcomed they were when they came home. Some said they were called names and others said they were even spat upon.
The meeting Saturday was the Vietnam Veterans Welcome Home Parade in Dixon. As the parade drove through Dixon, hundreds lined the parade route, waving flags and saying thank you.
Edward Chodl of the VFW Hall in Dixon, Honor Flight said many of the veterans felt forgotten.
Chodle also said he was very proud of the response the veterans received. A short time ago, the city of Dixon was declared a POW/MIA city.
