The City of Dixon is in the process of looking for a new Chief of Police. Dixon City Manager Dan Langloss announced at the most recent City Council meeting, the resignation of Chief Steve Howell.
Several on the City Council thanked Chief Howell for his years of service. Councilman Bishop thanked Howell and Chief Deputy Doug Lehman for stepping up to be Interim Chief.
Langloss said they have put a search committee together. Dr. Jon Mandrell, VP of Academics at Sauk Valley College, heads this group. Mandrel has also served as a police officer and was Chief of the Polo Police Department.
The committee is looking at in house candidates and they already have four applications. The official start of the search would be at the end of May.
