Whiteside County Sheriff Releases Details Concerning the Accident That Claimed the Life of a 13-year-old

Thursday afternoon, the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office released further details concerning the accident that claimed the life of a 13-year-old.

The Sheriff’s Office reported that 60-year-old Tara Fettig of Tampico was traveling eastbound on Lomax Road.  The 13-year –old boy driving a 125 cc Kawasaki dirt bike entered the roadway from a private drive.

When Deputies arrived, they discovered an unresponsive 13-year-old male.  Deputies and EMS Personnel rendered medical aid, however, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.  The accident remains under investigation by the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit.

The name of the victim has not been released, however The Prophetstown-Lyndon-Tampico School District said in an online post Thursday that It is with deep sadness that they share the loss of one of their students.

The District provided counselors, social workers, and area ministers were made available on Thursday at the 6–12 campus to provide comfort, guidance, and a space for students to process this tragedy.
