The City of Dixon would soon begin a project they have had their eye on for several years. The city council approved the use of over $21 million for needed improvements at the city wastewater treatment plant.
Public Works Director Matt Heckman said the city is seeking a revolving loan to pay for the project. He told the council he had good news about the loan. The other good news is the city would not face penalties is they pay the loan off early.
The low bidder is a company from Streator called Viscering Construction. Heckman said the contractor knows and understands that if the city does not get the loan, all bets are off and the city goes back to stage one.
