The Dixon Historic Theatre hosts a variety of events, performances and even films.  This upcoming year, the Theatre will have something going on every weekend.  Each one being something new and different.

The history of the theatre is one of creation, almost demolition and now revitalization.  For the Annual Founders Day event Friday afternoon, Tori Highley, Theatre Manager presented the history of entertainment venues in Dixon up to the current history of the Dixon Historic Theatre.

From its construction in the 1920’s the theatre was mostly a movie house.  Highley said from the 1950’s to the 1980’s, the theatre dwindled and was almost demolished.  Then a group of citizens stepped forward.

Highley stated the theatre is now beginning a new chapter.  The theatre grows with not only performances and acts coming to the theatre, but with the expansion of the children’s theatre and community theatre.
