Hundreds of people came to both sides of the river in downtown Dixon as the Petunia Festival, 2024 officially got underway.
Several hundred families with kids came to have fun on the carnival rides. There were a couple of people having fun Wednesday night. This was the two Dixon Police Officers, Lincoln Sharp and Cody Penick. They were on bike patrol.
Penick said riding a bike is something new for him, however he enjoys it. Penick went on to say if he has a funnel cake, he could ride the calories off.
From the Riverfront Park, the first night of bands could be heard. For the next four days, there would be many activities and events and more fun planned.
